CMMC Status for Phase Pause
During the current Department of Defense hiatus on CMMC rollout starting mid-2026, contracts are limited to Level 1 or 2 self-reporting. Third-party C3PAO audits are currently suspended, with no specific exceptions being granted as the federal review process continues to evolve.
Despite the pause, your obligations under NIST SP 800-171 remain in full effect. Corporate liability rests entirely on the truthfulness of self-reported scores. The focus has shifted from external validation to ensuring your internal attestations are technically defensible.
